« No matter what medium I'm using or what my subject matter is,
like many artists, my main interest is colour and shape. My medium
of choice these days is colour pencil. I have developed my own technique
of working with wax based pencils on paper: a very labour intensive
process that involves the gradual build up of many thin layers of pigment.
I have yet to discover a medium that will give me the same vibrant
effect I can achieve with pencil while allowing me to express my love
of detail. My originals are relatively small which invites the viewer
to step up close to see everything rather than to step back.»
