Kayvene’s artistic
style features a simplification of form, bold color contrasts and a
keen sense of composition. Her paintings possess an intriguing graphic,
yet decorative quality, paired with a sophisticated palette. Working
in gouache she strives to create images that are bold, sleek, modern
and sexy.
Currently living in Toronto, Ontario, Kayvene attended The Etobicoke
School of the Arts and graduated from their five-year Fine Art program.
For the following ten years she painted with black ink creating stylized
figurative images thus honing her use of line and sense of composition.
In
2002 she began painting on a full-time basis. She also made the decision
to introduce color to her work and started working in gouache. Gouache,
an opaque watercolor medium, allows her to produce colors that are
soft, but also quite vibrant. Kayvene shows and sells her original
paintings throughout the year at various group exhibitions in Ontario
and Quebec, Canada.
"My paintings are contemporary representations
of figures and objects distilled to the bare elements of line, color
and form. By utilizing a minimum of detail I encourage the viewer to
focus on the harmony and innate beauty that these elements create.
It's my hope that people participate in the artistic process by also
interpreting for themselves the emotional content of each piece."
