“I don’t make art because I have
to make a statement. I simply reinterpret my surroundings, my thoughts
and moods, things that have influenced me, through color, texture,
line and rendering. To me, to show an object, whether it’s a
figure or a field, casting shadows upon another and at the same time
reflecting light is intriguing. It may not sound very interesting but
if it’s done well, you’ll
know it when you look at it. There are so many endless highlights and
shadows within each shadow. It is as endless as two mirrors reflecting
upon each other except that not everyone can see it. It’s like
the influences people have upon your life, especially from childhood.
They continue to affect you and reflect from you, even if you are unaware
it's happening. The figure and nature are in themselves ever changing,
how can it ever be boring?”
